How Bespoke Suits Are Made at Om Fashion
At Om Fashion and Silk Custom Tailor in Bang Rak, Bangkok, bespoke suits are made by drafting a pattern from your own measurements, cutting cloth to it, basting a rough garment for fitting, refining the shape, then finishing by hand. The full process takes 3 to 5 days across one or two fittings, with free hotel pickup available throughout.
The Five Stages
Each stage below is part of how bespoke suits are made, with rough timings.
Consultation and measuring
We talk about how the garment will actually be worn, because a daily office suit and a suit worn twice a year need different cloth and construction. A full set of measurements is taken, posture noted, cloth and lining chosen. About an hour.
Pattern drafting and cutting
A paper pattern is drafted for your body, then cloth is cut to it by hand. This is the stage that separates bespoke from made to measure, and it is where a dropped shoulder or a fuller chest gets solved rather than disguised.
Basting and first fitting
The garment is loosely assembled with white basting thread so it can be seen on the body and taken apart again. Balance, shoulder, and chest are corrected here. A shop that skips this stage is not making bespoke.
Refinement and second fitting
The garment is recut to the corrections and refitted for waist, sleeve, and trouser length. Most clients are finished at this point. If it is still not right, there is a third fitting at no cost.
Hand finishing and delivery
Buttonholes, collar felling, and linings are finished by hand, then the garment is pressed and checked. Collect in Bang Rak, have it delivered to your hotel, or we ship it on.
Bespoke or Made to Measure
Both are far better than off the peg. They are not the same thing, and should not cost the same.

Made to Measure
- An existing block adjusted to your measurements

- Lower cost and a shorter turnaround
Timing
Being Honest About Time
Three days is achievable for one suit if you can attend the fittings. A wedding order for five people is not, and we would rather say so at the consultation than rush the work and disappoint you on the day.
